The Mercury 6hp single-cylinder four-stroke outboard motors are true lightweights, making them easy to move on and off any boat's transom.

We do not despatch outboards, we only sell outboards from our store.

On selling this outboard, the "Pre-Delivery inspection is performed by Qualified Mercury Technicians. This means the correct quantity of Mercury Engine Oil is added to the engine and the gearcase oil is also checked for the correct level. All grease points are greased including mounting thumbscrews. QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • Can you fit remotes to this engine

Yes, a remote control attaching kit would need to be fitted to the engine to allow remotes to operate the outboard.

  • Hi, I have a 2018 Mariner 6hp Outboard 4 Stroke Tiller Control Engine on my 23 foot yacht. The engine lives in a well and slides up out of the water when not in use. Currently when I use the engine I have to hold its locker open in order to operate the gears and throttle. This is a complete pain. The boat (when built) was originally supplied with a 6hp Yamaha and this had remote Morse controls. My question for you is can the Mariner 6hp Outboard 4 Stroke Tiller Control Engine support some remote controls? I can’t find anything on the internet to say it can. But neither can I find anything that says it can’t. So I thought I’d approach a dealer as I’m in the market for a set of remote controls for this engine if it can support some. All the best and I hope you can help, Ben Passmore.

Yes there is a kit available, which is the Remote Control Conversion Kit. Unfortunately the kit itself is about £350 and then you would require a throttle and gear cable, and a remote control box. Your exisitng Morse control could be converted to fit Mercury/Mariner cables. Also it generally take about 2 hours to fit the new conversion kit. So overall can be a pricey job.

  • Hi. Does the 6hp mercury include fuel tank and line?

The Mercury 6hp has an intergral fuel tank, but does have a fuel connector on the engine to fit an external tank if required. The external tank is not included.

  • How long is the tiller handle

The tiller handle is 17" long

  • I note the ansers about remote controls, What would be the cost of the additional controls required to remotely use the motor? The boat we have in mind has a 5hp 2 stroke which is a difficult beast to handle as the boat is a Norfolk River Sailboat / cruiser which has its own tiller and the motor is simply used for setting off and outing sails up and down, but its a massive pain not having the controls in the cockpit, sp a full installation is required. Thanks

The remote control attaching kit cost is £395, 2 x cable depending on length from about £20 each, varying types of control levers from about £150 upwards
